Description

Laganas is the longest beach on Zakynthos Island measuring 9 kilometers. It is sandy with shallow water, ideal for children. It is mostly organized with sun loungers, umbrellas and beach bars but you can also find a few quiet parts as you progress towards the neighboring Kalamaki resort. The beach is protected by the National Marine Park as it is a nesting place for the endangered Caretta Caretta turtles.

There are various water sports for the more daring as well as boats that take you turtle spotting or to the beautiful Marathonisi island, also known as Turtle Island. It resembles a turtle and except for the exquisite beaches, there are also turtle nests protected by a guard from the National Marine Park.
